Inspired by a lifelong bond with feline companions, this piano suite was composed in just one week to capture the funny, sweet, and fascinating nature of cats. The collection balances peaceful moments, like the resonant waltzes and Balinese-inspired scales of "Sunbeam Nap" and "Purring," with the sneaky, jazzy atmosphere of a "Midnight Prowl." Specific feline quirks are brought to life through clever technical choices, including chord clusters that mimic "Making Biscuits" and a pompous, Debussy-inspired march for the "Box Inspector." The album also captures a cat's high-energy side, using active rhythms and the full range of the keyboard to depict the frantic chase of a laser pointer and the chaotic frenzy of "The Zoomies." Each piece serves as a musical portrait of feline life, blending technical precision with an invitation for the performer to play with character and even improvise.
